Iceland Aviation Academy came into being in early 2019 when the Icelandic Flight School and Keilir Aviation Academy merged. The resulting school is one of the market leaders in the Nordic region. Here are a few milestones from our shared history:

Keilir Aviation Academy (KAA) was founded

KAA hosts the volcanic conference in cooperation with ICAO, IATA, and others. Aviation leaders, experts, and policymakers from all over the world gathered at Keflavik Airport in Iceland to discuss what lessons have been learnt from the Eyjafjallajökull [eja-fjattla-jökuttl] eruption.

KAA starts accepting international students. With this change all training is conducted in English, benefitting international and Icelandic students alike.

IFS acquires a new ALSIM ALX simulator

KAA becomes the first Icelandic flight school to offer integrated pilot training

IFS invests in Technam P2002 JF training aircraft

KAA invests in a new Diamond DA42 simulator while growing their aircraft fleet

KAA acquires IFS - "We are very happy with the acquisition and believe that overall it will strengthen pilot training in Iceland. Keilir Aviation Academy is a relatively young school, although we have grown rapidly over the past few years." Rúnar Árnason then Accountable Manger for Keilir Aviation Academy
